LSE Research Online Content Policy

LSE Research Online (LSERO) aims to provide access to LSE-affiliated research, increasing the accessibility of LSE research. LSERO also aims to create a bibliographic record of LSE-affiliated research where it is not possible to provide access to the full text of an output. This is in line with LSE’s Open Access policy and the School’s commitment to open research.

People

Content within the policy timeframe from the following groups will be included in LSERO:

LSE Researchers, LSE PhD candidates, Teaching staff
Undergraduates, Masters, Visiting Fellows, Emeritus staff, Alumni – professional content published with an LSE affiliation
Professional services staff – professional content related to LSE employment

Content

LSERO will include the following content types:

Articles, edited journal issues, books/book sections, monographs, working papers, conference items, online resources, blogs, audio visual resources, study protocols and pre-registration reports.
LSE Press content and LSE working papers
Blog posts by LSE authors.

LSERO will not include:

Theses written outside LSE (please contact the awarding institution to include in their repository).
Research conducted prior to the author joining LSE where this is outside of the policy timeframe and cannot be added via an automated source.

Blog posts published on LSE platforms by external authors, these are included in the UK Web Archive.

Timeframe

LSERO will add content published within the current REF period (2021-2028). In the first 3 years of a REF cycle, content will be added from the previous 7 years.

Service

LSE Library will upload historic records, including the full-text wherever possible, for research published in the policy timeframe. Requests to add historic content will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Older content will only be added where this process can be automated from ORCID, Scopus or a researchers’ previous institution. All records, CVs and manuscripts should be emailed to LSEResearchOnline@lse.ac.uk
