Abstract

Social media is a term that often refers to more a more restrictive range of internet based platforms, but a broader understanding of the concept allows an appreciation of the precursors of current online practices and issues. The following entry covers relevant research on young people’s use of mobile phones and the internet, before examining the emerging risk agenda.
