In recent decades many of the most influential and best Central Bank Governors have come from emerging economies. Guillermo Ortiz of Mexico, Tito Mboweni of South Africa, Zeti Aziz of Malaysia and Zhou Xiaochuan of China come to mind. India has also been blessed with exceptional Governors, such as Manmohan Singh, Bimal Jalan and Raghuram Rajan. Y.V. Reddy figures prominently in both these sets, so it is good that he has produced a well-written and fascinating auto-biography.
