Abstract

A mine of information about public attitudes to constitutional issues over the last decade, and a cogent commentary on those attitudes and what they imply for the future of reform, Voices of the people is essential reading for political anoraks and the chattering classes - and for the people themselves. The authors summarize and analyze a ten-year series of opinion surveys of British attitudes towards constitutional issues commissioned by the Joseph Rowntree Reform Trust. They argue that the general public have a good grasp of the underlying issues and are strongly in favor of constitutional reform that would lead to more public participation.
