Abstract

The ‘War on Terror’ has led to a range of counter-terrorism measures across the globe. These have included the introduction of anti-terror laws; changes in reporting requirements for civil society organisations; and the increasing use of new border security technologies. In many countries, the impact of these measures on civil society and on citizens has been a source of great concern. Several projects of the NGPA research programme have looked at these issues across the globe, focusing more specifically on countries such as Afghanistan, Kenya, India, the US and the UK.
