Abstract
Lecture given by Clare Hemmings, London School of Economics, UK at the international conference ‘Heteronormativity – a Fruitful Concept?’ in Trondheim, June 2nd – 4th , 2005. The goal of the conference was to challenge and explore new ideas associated with the concept of heteronormativity.This is defined as taking heterosexuality for granted as a normative instance in organizing sexual life as well as a pre-scription for how gender and gender relations should be practised in society.
