Abstract

This report is the first from our Missing Million research programme. It finds that young people are having an increasingly difficult time getting an initial foothold in the labour market and need to be better supported in school-to-work transitions. We analyse the characteristics of the young long-term unemployed and conduct a series of interviews with this group in order to set forth recommendations for policy-makers on targeting the issues faced by this demographic.
