Abstract

Hosting the FIFA World Cup and Olympics should have been a PR coup for Brazil, yet by the time they took place, protests were undermining the image of national unity. César Jiménez-Martínez explores how citizen dissatisfaction can impede a nation’s efforts in soft power.
