Abstract

Using the concept of performativity, developed by Judith Butler, the article problematizes the creation of "red light districs” in the city of Buenos Aires. These spaces are geographical delimitations within which the exercise of prostitution is allowed by law. Through the analysis of legal articles that attempt to spatially delimit sex work, the author discusses the production of the "prostitute" as a subject.
