Abstract
Can the UK reorient its trade and FDI patterns from the European economy to faster-growing markets in Asia, Latin America and Africa, as promised by Brexiters? Saul Estrin, Christine Cote, and Daniel Shapiro explain why in practice it is much cheaper to trade with neighbouring countries, at least in the short to medium term.
