Abstract
This work investigates the role of proximities on helping the victims of global disasters. Examining individuals with different physical and cultural proximities to Syrian refugees, it demonstrates that in global disasters such as the refugee crisis, cultural proximity is a more significant determinant of helping than physical proximity.
