Abstract

Discusses the problem of inadequate housing supply and how it might be addressed. Examines changes to housing stock, projections on the future number of households in different parts of the UK, those benefitting from permission for development, and the constraints on land supply. Reviews the planning policy agenda, including local needs assessments, possible methods of taxing planning gain, and how barriers to housing delivery might be removed.
