Abstract

This chapter examines some of the ambiguities associated with supply driven efforts to provide low cost Internet access devices to the poor. It considers these initiatives in the light of the recommendations offered by the Maitland Missing Link report and in the light of current debates about digital divides in the context of the World Summit on the Information Society.
