Abstract
Decentralisation and regional development policy in the Republic of Macedonia have evolved under different circumstances, but both involve a possibility for positive changes at the local level. The decentralisation policy has mainly derived from the political requests of municipalities regarding the development policy was mainly created as a response to the problem of huge economic and social differences between the capital city and other parts of the country.
