Abstract

This book proposes an interdisciplinary analysis of the regulation of European and international financial markets, of economic governance in the European Union and of proposals for reform. A first part discusses the changes in the regulation of financial markets during recent years. The second part concerns the legal framework for the regulation of financial markets in the European Union. The third part analyses the changes currently underway in EU economic governance. A fourth part examines proposals for reform regarding rating agencies, pension funds and the European banking system in the light of Chinese experience of banking regulation during the recent financial crisis. The book is composed of a selection of the best contributions, revised and updated, presented at the 8th International Workshop for Young Scholars, which was held at the École Supérieure des Sciences Commerciales d’Angers (ESSCA) in February 2010 under the aegies of the European Law Journal together with ESSCA and the Centre d’Études et de Recherches Internationales et Communautaires (CERIC) de la Faculté de droit et de science politique d’Aix-Marseille Université.
