Abstract

What impact is the current recession having on disadvantaged communities and what can we learn from evidence from previous recessions? This Round-up: explores the relationship between previous and current unemployment trends; shows which areas have been hardest hit by the recession; suggests how local authorities, community and voluntary organisations can help maintain gains and 'recession-proof' the poorest communities.
