Trade unions have often been described as "intermediate," as organizations 'second degree' (Müller-Jentsch, 1985). Industrial arena, they equip workers - have collectively organized by the employer - a formal mechanism for collective representation in part (though not entirely) independent. Their organizational structures are therefore indirectly shaped by the capitalist division of labor and by the practices and preferences of their employers' references.
