The process of ownership of the Atacama patrimonial and communitarian land during the last decade forces us to reflect on some of the proprietary repertoires that, from the colonial times have been integrating and differentiating, associated to distinctive practices, knowledge and values, non-incompatible though. The laws, processes and formal title deed artefacts form a scenario of historical negotiation in which diverse Andean indigenous territorial reclamations in relation to civil servants, mechanisms and objects (colonial and postcolonial) take shape. The corresponding representations and local proprietary interactions, regional and national reveal cycles of intercultural negotiation, that turn out to be symbols and rituals of appropriation, title deeds and formal demarcation of lands. The Atacama case is organized in competitive political factions that tend towards relations of pronounced hierarchy. The conflict scenarios by territorial resources, contribute to the understanding of the complex internormative processes of communication, economic, political and territorial differentiation, those that today are needed in the Atacama post-colonial border.
