In the wake of the Asian and Russian financial crises, the CEP convened a one day meeting of policymakers and academics to examine the prospects for reform of the international monetary system in December 1998. This Special Report records the main areas of discussion and includes revised versions of some of the papers presented, including those from Stanley Fischer, IMF Deputy Managing Director.
