Abstract

This report is an evaluation of the use of community mediation in the London Borough of Southwark. It covers the causes of disputes, the way they are managed by housing officers, the mediation process and the cost of neighbour disputes. It looks at the arguments about the usefulness of the mediation service as opposed to the more formal legal procedures and concludes that it can have a discernible impact on the quality of dispute resolution.
