Abstract

本書研究新聞通訊社在全球化及新聞商品化中扮演的角色。不只探討通訊社在個別國家及全球層次引發的緊張,也重視商業化及公共服務規範化之間的緊張。本書不侷限於討論一般的新聞通訊社,而將主題擴展至財政、錄影帶、照片、網際網路及其他源自媒體產製的「批發」買賣。本書舉出過去一百五十年來許多國家政府、國家通訊社、全球通訊社及全球管理單位之間抗爭的例子,並論及各種建構全球通訊社的政治、經濟與文化利益。
