Abstract

In its effort to get more people back into work, the Labour Government has hinted at a series of cuts to sickness and disability support. Ruth Patrick and Aaron Reeves argue that this approach is misguided and goes against a host of evidence which suggests that cutting or caping people’s benefits pushes them deeper into poverty and further away from the labour market.
