Abstract

In chapter 14, Crescenzi and Piazza provide a critical overview of the available methods to estimate the local socio-economic impact of RIs and discuss the transmission mechanisms and the channels through which RIs activities can affect local economies. The focus is mainly on procurement as this is the closest interaction between research and industry.
