Abstract

This paper reviews the account of British constitutional development presented by Bruce Ackerman in his recent project that models three pathways to constitutionalism. Ackerman asserts that the British case illustrates what he calls the establishmentarian pathway. Arguing that his account of British practice is less than convincing, this paper then proceeds to question the soundness of Ackerman’s entire pathway scheme.
