Abstract

Research conducted in northern Uganda has had a significant impact on a landmark trial at the International Criminal Court, using anthropological work to inform cultural understandings of sexual wrongdoing. LSE’s Duncan Green talks to researcher Holly Porter about the impact of her work on the trial of LRA commander Dominic Ongwen, and the precedent it sets for the prosecution of international crimes of a sexual nature.
