The document that follows, entitled Declaration for the change of name of the linguistic group erroneously called "Jíbaro" , derives from a series of resolutions taken between Shuar and Achuar personalities and national and international researchers in the Congress "Yápankam. The voices of research in the Upper Amazon, ”which took place between April 19 and 21, 2018 in the covered space of the town of Seville Don Bosco, in the Amazonian foothills of Ecuador. Bringing together about forty panelists from various professions, the Yápankam congress provided a public space to discuss, among other topics, the way in which researched social groups and research anthropologists could achieve conditions of equality in the production of scientific knowledge 1.
