Abstract

In recognition of the experiences of women in conflict, this report reviews some of the reproductive and sexual health (RSH) challenges faced by women and girls in conflict settings. Women are disproportionately affected by violence and a lack of services during times of conflict and disaster. Access to quality reproductive health services is a human right, and significantly reduces death and disability. Reproductive and Sexual Health is a broad area and therefore, this report focuses on the challenges related to three areas: family planning, abortion and gender-based violence (GBV). Increased attention and funding in these often-neglected areas, has been proven to not only improve but also to save lives.
