Abstract

This young self-styled female entrepreneur combines the sale of traditional breakfast foods with credit for Gambia’s growing range of mobile phone and internet providers. In this evolving "New World (Dis?)order", her working conditions and profits remain a far cry from those of the companies creating demand for high-tech communications.
