Abstract

This report by Dr Shakuntala Banaji is contained in deliverable report no.16 of CIVICWEB Young People, the Internet and Civic Participation, a Project co-funded by the European Commission within the Sixth Framework Programme (2002-2006) Project no. 028357. The report contains reports of focus groups with young people in Europe. Samples of 45-60 young people from seven countries were analysed: Hungary, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Turkey and the United Kingdom. They included those who used online civic initiatives, young people who were active in offline civic organisations and those who were not engaged in civic organisations online or offline. The section on the UK is pages 127-146.
