Abstract

This document summarizes health care economics syllabi and programs in English-speaking countries according to target audience, level, and degree of intensity of health care economics training. The report is for teachers of health care economics as well as for general economists interested in this field. The first two sections examine typical syllabi and textbooks in a range of health care economics courses in the United Kingdom and the United States respectively. The third section features representative syllabi for health care economics courses taught in medical schools in six countries: England, Scotland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the United States. A glossary of the more common terms in health care economics also is included.
